Menna Radwan, Field Team Leader in South Sudan for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) tells about studying in our Executive Master of Advanced Studies.
My role is Field Team Leader with the ICRC in Yei, South Sudan. In addition, I am working on my thesis under the supervision of Professor Gloria Gaggioli on Non-International Armed Conflicts (NIAC) and Counter Terrorism.
I enrolled in this master while serving as Field Team Leader in Maiduguri, North East Nigeria. I chose this programme to expand my knowledge in International Law in Armed conflict, particularly NIAC and counter terrorism, which are my main areas of interest. I admired this programme as it allows you to study literally anywhere and anytime. Given the nature of my work, the flexibility was essential, for instance in emergencies or when internet access was limited, as deadlines could be adjusted accordingly. Indeed this program is well set up for professionals, and especially humanitarians in the field.
This program has been an amazing step forward, which not only helped me in my fieldwork but also opening new opportunities. I am glad to announce that I was admitted in January 2025 to PhD programme in Counter Terrorism and Deradicalization at EUCLID University.
