The Geneva Human Rights Platform (GHRP) provides a neutral and dynamic forum of interaction in Geneva for all stakeholders in the field of human rights – experts, practitioners, diplomats and civil society – to debate topical issues and challenges related to the functioning of the global human rights system. Relying on academic research and findings, it works to enable various actors to be better connected, break silos, and, hence, advance human rights.

A ‘Mechanisms Lab’

As a ‘Mechanisms Lab’, the GHRP supports the international community to engineer solutions to ensure the sustainable functioning of the Geneva-based human rights mechanisms and bodies, allowing them to address human rights challenges effectively.

The GHRP promotes the sharing, exchange and collaboration across different human rights actors, using its independent, neutral and academic status. It also actively explores possible links and synergies in areas outside human rights, including humanitarian affairs, public health, development assistance, and science and technology.

The GHRP holds regular events, diplomatic briefings, conferences, expert roundtables and private meetings, and informs ongoing processes via targeted research and publications.

A ‘Training Hub’

The GHRP supports the international community in engaging more effectively with the Geneva-based human rights mechanisms and bodies to address current human rights challenges. Its Training Hub builds the capacity of civil society and other stakeholders on the Geneva-based international human rights system, its use and its impact on various policy areas.

Initiatives

The GHRP targeted initiatives provide support to Geneva-based human rights mechanisms and inform decisions related to their sustainable functioning.
