Anna Rosalie Greipl

Anna Rosalie Greipl is a Researcher at the Geneva Academy, where she works on the Digitalization of Armed Conflict project. She is also a PhD Researcher at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Geneva Graduate Institute). Her doctoral research focuses on the military use of artificial intelligence and its impact on international humanitarian law.

Her areas of expertise include international humanitarian law, international criminal law, international human rights law, and the challenges raised by new technologies – in particular artificial intelligence – in these fields of international law.

Prior to joining the Geneva Academy, Anna was a Teaching Assistant at the Geneva Graduate Institute. She has also worked as a Thematic Legal Advisor on Urban Warfare with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) from 2018 until 2019. Her previous positions include those of Legal Associate in the ICRC Legal Division (2017–2018) and intern with the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) in Cameroon (2016–2017).

Anna holds an LLM in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights from the Geneva Academy (2018) and an LLM in Law and Politics of International Security from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2016). She has been awarded the 2018 Henry Dunant Research Prize for her Master Thesis on ‘International State Responsibility: The Role of Italy in Outsourcing Migration Management to Libya’.
