Core Courses

Core courses are mandatory. They are structured in six clusters that cover central theoretical and practical issues in the fields of transitional justice, human rights and the rule of law.

Human Rights and Transitional Justice

Clara Sandoval, Neus Torbisco-Casals

This course aims at unpacking the nature and scope of international human rights law (IHRL) in transitional contexts. It starts by laying the foundations of IHRL and maps the human rights law framework of transitional justice. It then analyses the different approaches to managing diversity and their implications for human rights, democratic governance and political justice in transitional societies. All sessions are conducted with a global comparative focus and are based on a practice-oriented perspective that tackles experiences and challenges in contemporary contexts.
