Ankita Shanker is a Teaching Assistant at the Geneva Academy, the Founder and Director of the World Moot on International Law and Animal Rights, and a PhD Fellow researching in public international law, international human rights law, comparative animal rights law, and legal philosophy and theory.

Ankita earned her post-graduate degree in law from Oxford University and qualified as a barrister at the Bar of England and Wales.

After training at international criminal courts and tribunals and running two moot coaching courses on a Swiss LLM programme, Ankita is now working towards her doctorate in the legal philosophy and theory of personhood and fundamental rights, at the Universities of Basel and Helsinki. She holds various scholarships and fellowships from the Swiss, Belgian, and Finnish governments and research institutions.

As Moot Court Training Expert for the International Commission of Jurists and the Danish Institute for Human Rights, Ankita founded, developed, and ran the first moot on international human and animal rights law, held at the national level in Myanmar. As Founder Director of the WMILAR, she has founded and now develops and runs the first world moot on international law and animal rights, comprising an international mooting competition and mooting/coaching training courses.
