Qu’advient-il des droits humains lorsque le monde entier plonge dans une crise sans précédent? Affronter un ennemi commun qui menace l’humanité sans distinction de genre, d’ethnie ou de religion nous rendrait-il plus solidaires ? Le respect des droits humains s’en trouverait-il enfin renforcé ou au contraire le changement de priorités laisserait-il pour compte les minorités et les plus démuni-es?
La Semaine des droits humains 2020 se penche sur ces crises qui s’additionnent, ou se croisent : crise climatique, crise économique et crise sanitaire ont toutes des conséquences tangibles sur la planète et ses habitant-es. Pertes d’emploi, mauvaise alimentation, difficultés d’accès aux soins, ces grands bouleversements creusent le fossé des inégalités sociales. Mais les crises, en perturbant les équilibres, offrent aussi des opportunités de changement que la nature et les êtres humains ont toujours su saisir pour s’adapter et faire face à l’adversité. Ce que nous traversons nous rendra-t-il plus uni-es et plus fort-es ?
Une fois encore, la Semaine des droits humains donne donc la parole à celles et ceux qui se mobilisent pour faire respecter les droits de chacun-e. Cinq jours durant, associations, philosophes, juristes, écrivains et auteures se relaieront en ligne pour faire part de leurs vécus, de leurs idées et de leurs combats.
Dans cette période incertaine qui voit les événements publics s’organiser et s’annuler au gré de mesures sanitaires mouvantes, nous avons en effet tenu à garder ce rendez-vous. Si on ne peut plus réunir de public pour participer à un débat ou partager l’émotion d’un film, d’autres moyens ont émergé pour continuer à partager, même à distance, à échanger et se mobiliser pour les causes que nous souhaitons défendre.
