Regulating Today’s Non-International Armed Conflicts: From Law to Practice

Launch of ‘The International Law of Non-International Armed Conflict’, by Ezequiel Heffes and Nathalie Weizmann, published by Oxford University Press, hosted by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights

Most armed conflicts today are non-international armed conflicts (NIACs), in which one or more organized non-State armed groups are fighting with a certain level of intensity, either between themselves or against State forces. Given the prevalence of NIACs and their human toll, it is essential to understand how international law regulates the parties’ conduct and protects individuals.

During this event, the authors of the new book The International Law of Non-International Armed Conflict and experts working in diplomacy, academia, and humanitarian action will discuss the book and the issues at stake. All of the panel will be speaking in a personal capacity.
